IDUKKI: 1092nd day fasting strike by "Mullaperiyar Dam Protection Committee" inaugurated by H.G Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose, Metropolitan of Idukki Diocese. From Dec1st to Dec 20th Idukki diocese took over the fasting strike and showed full allegiance to "Mullaperiyar Dam Protection Committee". Apart from the metropolitan, Priests & Laymen from all the churches in the diocese participated.

PUTHENCURIZ: Essay Writing Competition about the life & teachings of St. Athanasius Paulose, by Viswasasamrakshakan in association with Antioch Viswasa Samrakshana Samithy & Mor Behnan Study Circle (MBSC) held on Dec 27, Sunday at Puthencruz. 32 candidates from all over Malankara participated in the competition. H.G Mor Athanasius Elias, Bar Etho Maheero Thampu George Thukalan, Chev. K. V Paulose & Chev. Bibby Abraham Kadavumbhagam spoke on the occasion. The winners will be awarded the prize money during the Mass event going to be held at Aluva on 23rd & 24th of January. MBSC & Viswasa Samrakshana samithy volunteers & Viswasa Samrakshakan Office staffs coordinated the function. After the competition, there was an interactive session with H.B Catholicos Baselios Thomas I.

ഓണക്കൂര്‍ സെഹിയോന്‍ പള്ളിയില്‍ പെരുന്നാള്‍

പിറവം: ഓണക്കൂര്‍ സെഹിയോന്‍ യാക്കോബായ സുറിയാനി പള്ളിയിലെ പ്രധാന പെരുന്നാള്‍ 30ന് ആരംഭിക്കും. മൂന്ന് ദിവസത്തെ പെരുന്നാള്‍ ചടങ്ങുകള്‍ ജനവരി ഒന്നിന് സമാപിക്കും. മാര്‍ ഇഗ്‌നാത്തിയോസ് നൂറോനയുടെ ഓര്‍മ്മപ്പെരുന്നാളാണ് ഇവിടത്തെ പ്രധാന പെരുന്നാള്‍. പെരുന്നാളിന് മുന്നോടിയായി വികാരി ഫാ. ജോയി ആനക്കുഴി കൊടിയുയര്‍ത്തും.

ബുധനാഴ്ച രാവിലെ കുന്നത്തുരുത്തന്‍ ചാപ്പലില്‍ കുര്‍ബാനയുണ്ട്. വൈകീട്ട് 6.30ന് ചാപ്പലില്‍ നിന്ന് പള്ളിയിലേക്ക് പ്രദക്ഷിണം, 8.30ന് സുവിശേഷ പ്രസംഗം എന്നിവയുണ്ട്. വ്യാഴാഴ്ച വൈകീട്ട് 5ന് പെരിയപ്പുറം സണ്‍ഡേ സ്‌കൂളില്‍ നിന്ന് പള്ളിയിലേക്ക് ഘോഷയാത്ര. രാത്രി 8ന് പള്ളിയില്‍ നിന്ന് പ്രദക്ഷിണം എന്നിവ നടക്കും.

സമാപന ദിവസമായ വെള്ളിയാഴ്ച രാവിലെ 9ന് കുര്‍ബാന, തുടര്‍ന്ന് നേര്‍ച്ചസദ്യ, സ്ലീബ എഴുന്നള്ളിപ്പ്, പ്രദക്ഷിണം എന്നിവയുമുണ്ട്.

Nephew of H.E Mor Theethose Yeldho passed away

With heavy heart we want to in form you that our Theethose Thirumeni's sister's son, Jikku, passed away suddenly today in Kerala.

Jikku, son of Thirumeni's elder sister Ajitha and her husband, Babu, Thenumkal House, Sultan Batheri, Vayanad, was 16 years old and a 10th Grade student at Sainik School, Trivandrum. Geo is Jikku's older brother. The funeral is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 30th, 2009.

 May the Lord keep Jikku in His lap. Let us pray that God's presence and comfort be with the family at this sorrowful time.

A special prayer meeting and a memorial service are scheduled for Wednesday (Dec.30th, 2009) evening at 7.00 p.m. at the Aramana Chapel. New York

പുത്തന്‍കുരിശ്: ദൈവീക സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ ജീവിക്കാന്‍ വിശ്വാസികള്‍ക്കു കഴിയണമെന്ന്‌ സുവിശേഷസംഘം പ്രസിഡന്റ്‌ ഏലിയാസ്‌ മോര്‍ അത്താനാസിയോസ്‌ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത ഉദ്‌ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു. പുത്തന്‍കുരിശില്‍ യാക്കോബായ സുറിയാനി സഭയുടെ അഖില മലങ്കര സുവിശേഷ മഹായോഗത്തിന്റെ മൂന്നാംദിവസത്തെ യോഗത്തില്‍ അധ്യക്ഷപ്രസംഗം നടത്തുകയായിരുന്നു അദ്ദേഹം.

പാപത്തിന്റെ അന്ധകാരത്തില്‍പ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന സാഹചര്യത്തില്‍ നിന്നും വിട്ടുപോരുന്നതിനുവേണ്ടിയാണ്‌ ദൈവം വിളിക്കുന്നത്‌. ആത്മീയ രക്ഷക്കുവേണ്ടിയാണ്‌ യഹോവയായ ദൈവം വിളിക്കുന്നതെന്ന്‌ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത വിശ്വാസികളെ ഓര്‍മിപ്പിച്ചു. സുവിശേഷവും ആരാധനയും സമന്വയിപ്പിക്കണമെന്നും അദ്ദേഹം പറഞ്ഞു.

ഇന്നു രാവിലെ 10.30 മുതല്‍ ഉച്ചകഴിഞ്ഞ്‌ രണ്ടുവരെ സെന്റ്‌ പോള്‍സ്‌ മിഷന്‍ ഓഫ്‌ ഇന്ത്യയുടേയും സ്ലീബാ മോര്‍ ഒസ്‌താത്തിയോസ്‌ ചാരിറ്റബിള്‍ മിഷന്റേയും നേതൃത്വത്തില്‍ ധ്യാനയോഗം നടക്കും.വൈകിട്ട്‌ 5.30നു നടക്കുന്ന സുവിശേഷ യോഗത്തില്‍ ഡോ. മാത്യൂസ്‌ മോര്‍ ഈവാനിയോസ്‌ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത അധ്യക്ഷത വഹിക്കും. മാത്യൂസ്‌ മോര്‍ അഫ്രേം മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത, മോണ്‍. ഡോ. ആല്‍ബര്‍ട്ട്‌ റൗഹ്‌ എന്നിവര്‍ സുവിശേഷപ്രസംഗം നടത്തും. ലിവിംഗ്‌ മെലഡീസ്‌ ഗാനശുശ്രൂഷക്കു നേതൃത്വം നല്‍കും.

സുവിശേഷയോഗത്തിന്റെ സം‌പ്രേഷണം റേഡിയോ മലങ്കരയും മലങ്കര വിഷനും തത്സമയം സം‌പ്രേഷണം ചെയ്യുന്നു. 31-നു പാതിരാ കുര്‍ബാനയോടെയാണ് ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ യോഗം സമാപിക്കുന്നത്.

നെടുമ്പാശ്ശേരി: പൗലോസ് മാര്‍ അത്തനാസിയോസ് വലിയ തിരുമേനിയുടെ മെത്രാഭിഷേക ശതാബ്ദി ആഘോഷം, സണ്ടേ സ്‌കൂള്‍ അസോസിയേഷന്‍ നവതി ആഘോഷം എന്നിവയുടെ ഭാഗമായി വിളംബരജാഥ നടത്തി. അകപ്പറമ്പ് മാര്‍ ശാബോര്‍ അഫ്രോത്ത് യാക്കോബായ കത്തീഡ്രലില്‍ നിന്ന് അഖില മലങ്കര സുവിശേഷ യോഗം നടക്കുന്ന പുത്തന്‍കുരിശ് പാത്രിയാര്‍ക്കാ സെന്ററിലെ കത്തീഡ്രലിലേക്കാണ് ജാഥ നടത്തിയത്. ആലുവ തൃക്കുന്നത്ത് പള്ളിയിലെ കബറിങ്കലില്‍ നിന്ന് തെളിയിച്ച ദീപശിഖ സണ്ടേ സ്‌കൂള്‍ അസോസിയേഷന്‍സെക്രട്ടറി ബേബി വര്‍ഗീസിന് കൈമാറി മന്ത്രി ജോസ് തെറ്റയില്‍ ജാഥ ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്തു. ഫാ. ജേക്കബ്ബ് മിഖായോല്‍, ഫാ. പൗലോസ് അറയ്ക്കപ്പറമ്പില്‍, സി.വൈ. വര്‍ഗീസ്, അഡ്വ. ബെഞ്ചമിന്‍ പോള്‍, ഷെവലിയാര്‍ ടി.ടി. ജോയി, പി.ഐ. ഉലഹന്നാന്‍ എന്നിവര്‍ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.

പുത്തന്‍കുരിശ്: ദൈവചിന്തയില്ലാതെ നടക്കുന്നവര്‍ പശ്ചാത്തപിച്ച് സഭയിലേക്ക് കടന്നുവരണമെന്ന് ശ്രേഷ്ഠ കാതോലിക്ക ബസ്സേലിയോസ് തോമസ് പ്രഥമന്‍ ബാവ പറഞ്ഞു. പുത്തന്‍കുരിശ് പാത്രിയര്‍ക്കാ സെന്ററില്‍ ശനിയാഴ്ച വൈകിട്ട് തുടങ്ങിയ അഖില മലങ്കര സുവിശേഷ യോഗം ഉദ്ഘാടനം ചെയ്യുകയായിരുന്നു ബാവ.

ക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ വഴികളിലൂടെയല്ലാതെ മനുഷ്യന് സമാധാനം ലഭിക്കില്ല. ആ വഴികളില്‍നിന്ന് അകന്നു നടക്കുന്നവരുണ്ടെങ്കില്‍ സഭയിലേക്ക് കടന്നുവരണമെന്നും ബാവ പറഞ്ഞു. സുന്നഹദോസ് സെക്രട്ടറി ജോസഫ് മാര്‍ ഗ്രിഗോറിയോസ് മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തയുടെ അധ്യക്ഷതയില്‍ നടന്ന സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ കത്തോലിക്കാ സഭയിലെ കോതമംഗലം രൂപതാധ്യക്ഷന്‍ ഡോ. ജോര്‍ജ് പുന്നക്കോട്ടില്‍ ക്രിസ്മസ് സന്ദേശം നല്‍കി. ചടങ്ങില്‍ ഈവര്‍ഷത്തെ ചിന്താവിഷയം ഡോ. കുര്യാക്കോസ് മാര്‍ തെയോഫിലോസ് മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്ത അവതരിപ്പിച്ചു. ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ ചിന്താവിഷയം “പുറപ്പെട്ടുപോരുവിന്‍” എന്നതാണ്. സമ്മേളനത്തില്‍ മെത്രാപ്പോലീത്തമാരായ ഡോ. എബ്രഹാം മാര്‍ സേവേറിയോസ്, മാത്യൂസ് മാര്‍ ഈവാനിയോസ്, ഗീവര്‍ഗീസ് മാര്‍ അത്തനാസിയോസ്, ഡോ. കുര്യാക്കോസ് മാര്‍ തെയ്യോഫിലോസ്, ഡോ. ഗീവര്‍ഗീസ് മാര്‍ കൂറിലോസ്, കുര്യാക്കോസ് മാര്‍ യൗസേബിയോസ്, ഏലിയാസ് മാര്‍ അത്തനാസിയോസ്, പൗലോസ് മാര്‍ ഐറേനിയോസ്, ഡോ. കുര്യാക്കോസ് മാര്‍ ക്ലിമീസ്, യാക്കോബ് മാര്‍ അന്തോണിയോസ്, പത്രോസ് മാര്‍ ഒസ്താത്തിയോസ്, കാനഡയില്‍നിന്നെത്തിയ സേ്തഫാനോസ് റമ്പാന്‍, യുഡിഎഫ് കണ്‍വീനര്‍ പി.പി. തങ്കച്ചന്‍, ടി.യു. കുരുവിള എംഎല്‍എ, എം.എം. മോനായി എംഎല്‍എ എന്നിവര്‍ പങ്കെടുത്തു. സുവിശേഷയോഗത്തിന്റെ സം‌പ്രേഷണം റേഡിയോ മലങ്കരയും മലങ്കര വിഷനും തത്സമയം സം‌പ്രേഷണം ചെയ്യുന്നു. 31-നു പാതിരാ കുര്‍ബാനയോടെയാണ് ഈ വര്‍ഷത്തെ യോഗം സമാപിക്കുന്നത്.

Christmas Service at St. George Syrian Orthodox Church Rockland County, New York

Christmas Service at St. George Syrian Orthodox Church of Rockland County was lead by the Vicar, V. Rev. Kuriakose Karukayil Corepiscopa. The Vicar, in his Christmas message, emphasized the urgency in reinventing our true Christian life at this Christmas by preparing our hearts to be the birth place for our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Kick off ceremony of the raffle tickets for the new Church building fund was conducted after the service. Diocesan Council Member, Sunny Paulose handed over the check for the first raffle ticket to the Vicar. This was followed by Christmas skits and theme presentations by the Youth Association and the Sunday School Association and prices were distributed to the winners of the Sunday School competitions and the Church Picnic. Sunday School teachers were honored for their dedicated service by the Secretary George Isaac.

On 20 December 21, 2009 the first Holy Qurbono (Tri-mass) was conducted by Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese and assisted by Fr. Scaria Kochillam and Fr. Aji Mathew Karimpanackal.

After the consecration ceremony, the public meeting started inside the church at 11.30. The meeting began with the welcome speech by the parish, trustee Shri. David Varghese. Shri G.D Abraham, Rev. Fr. Scaria Kochillam Rev. Fr. Aji Mathew Karimpanackal , Chevalier Thomas Daniel spoke on the occasion, Vote of Thanks was delivered by Shri Daniel Abraham. BAGHDAD: A series of car bombs has exploded in two Iraqi cities killing at least eight people, police say. In central Baghdad three bombs killed at least four people and wounded 14 outside the heavily fortified Green Zone. That attack was followed by another co-ordinated car bombing in the northern city of Mosul where four people were killed and 40 injured. Analysts say al-Qaeda is trying to destabilise Iraq ahead of March polls.

The blasts in Baghdad occurred near the Iranian embassy, the foreign ministry and the immigration ministry, reports say. In Mosul two Syrian Orthodox Christian churches and a church school were attacked.  The Al Beshara (Annunciation) Syrian Catholic Church in Mosul was the first to be targeted at 10.30am on he 15th of December when a bomb was placed against an outside wall of the building. A minor explosion took place with damage to the wall. Nobody was hurt. Youngsters at a nearby kindergarten had a lucky escape.

Within a few hours, a second, much bigger bomb had gone off at the Al Gahera (Our Lady of Purity) Syrian Orthodox Church. A number of people were injured in the explosion which caused major damage to the church in the crowded Al Shefaa district in the city centre. The blasts come a week after at least 127 people were killed in multiple car bombings in Baghdad. The latest attacks struck days after Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki blamed opposition rivalry for security lapses.

PUTHENCURIZ: Joint Commission for Dialogue between the Catholic Church & Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church held at Patriarchal centre here yesterday. The Joint Commission decided to study the scope of co operation between both the churches in outer Kerala Dioceses to share the churches and cemeteries and extending the services of the priests in funeral services where either of the churches doesn't have parishes. The commission decided to give the priests of both the churches, a printed copy of the Marriage Arrangement formed between the churches in 1994 at Vatican and to move together against the fundamentalism, terrorism and other social evils. KOLKATA: The members of the Youth Association of St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Kolkata organised the KENSHO-2009 with the theme of BUILDING CHURCH FAMILY STRONG on Sunday, the 13th December 2009, immediately after the Holy Qurbono in the Parish Hall. The member priest, Fr. Dr. K. P. Aleaz, the Senior Professor of the Bishops College, Kolkata also attended the function.

Mr. V. V. Thampi, IPS (Inspector General of the State of West Bengal), a member of the Parish, gave the key-note address based on the theme. While giving his message he explained the history of the Syrian Church and also the genuine problems being faced by the Christians in the country.

The Sunday School children of the Parish presented a wonderful skit having the moral of "Helping the needy and the poor".  The most attractive part of the day's programme was the Quiz Competition conducted by Mrs. Anita Kurien and Mrs. Lini Rajesh on the "Acts of the Apostles" and the "Church History". The entire members present were divided into six groups for the competition and Rev. Fr. (Dr. ) K.P. Aleaz was the judge for the same. The "Esther" and "Isaiah" teams who scored the first and second positions in the competition were presented with special gifts.  The show stopper for the day was the grand entry of SANTA CLAUS loaded with gifts for everyone. During the occasion, prizes were also given away to those succeeded in the art competition for our young members held on the 6th of December 2009.

The Parish also felicitated all those couples who have completed 25 years and above of their married life and they were given mementos by the Vicar, Fr. Philipose M. Abraham on behalf of the Parish. The programme ended with a concluding prayer followed by a high tea.

BANGALORE: Satharathri-2009, an Inter Church Christmas Carol competition and celebration organized by Jacobite Syrian Christian Youth Association (JSCYA) - Bangalore Diocese held on 13th Sunday at East Cultural Association (ECA) auditorium, Indiranagar, here. Churches from different denominations from Bangalore participated and witnessed by over 1000 of people. Rev. Dr. Varghese Kelamparampil gave the Christmas message after the inaugural function. Priests from the churches blessed the occasion.

Though they gone and made a new church and hate 'Jacobites' very much, still they cannot avoid the name 'Jacobite' in their seal. Funny part is that they kept the word 'Jacobite' only in the part written in Syriac and removed that in Malayalam part. Why they cannot remove that from the Syriac Part?! They proved themselves again as the great manipulators!!

HOSKOTE,  BANGALORE: Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese & Patriarchal Vicar of U.K of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, His Grace Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese delivered Easow Mar Themotheos Memorial Lecture at Hoskote Mission and Medical Centre here. Easow Mar Themotheos was an Episcopa of the Mar Thoma Church from 1975 to 1988. His missionary work before becoming a bishop was based on identifying himself with the economically backward people. Hoskote Mission was found in the year 1947, when India became independent. Started as a small prayer fellowship has grown up into one of the well established mission of the Mar Thoma Church.

BANGALORE: Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese & Patriarchal Vicar for U.K, His Grace Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese delivered the key - note address in the 'National Ecumenical Consultation on Mission' held at Ecumenical Christian Centre (ECC), Bangalore. The Ecumenical Christian Centre (ECC) was established in 1963 by a stalwart late Rev. Dr. M. A. Thomas, with the vision of promoting 'the unity of humankind as an expression of radical obedience to Christ'. ECC offers a forum for believers and non-believers alike to congregate and engage in dialogues on moral and ethical values and for social change and harmony. There are 22 constituent bodies in the ECC Council from the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, and Protestant traditions. In its objectives, ECC has educational, social and cultural concerns.

Parish Convention & Retreat held at St. Mary's JSO Church, Kolkata

KOLKATA: The Sixteenth Annual Convention and retreat held at St. Mary's JSO Church, here. Korusso C. V. Kuriakose, Kuruppumpadi addressed the gathering during the second day. The speaker emphasized on the urgent need for the people getting ready for facing the Judgment Day when the books recording his activities are opened before the Jesus Christ. On the third day, the speaker explained the qualities required for a true Christian. As a concluding remark, he did mention that those who organized the convention will not got to the heaven but only those who follow the word of our Lord can think of achieving the same.

Vicar Fr. Philipose Abraham  & Rev. Dn. Abhilash, the fourth year B.D. student of Bishops College led the prayers during the convention.

Metropolitan of Idukki and Chennai Dioceses His Grace Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose celebrated Holy Qurbono on Nov 28, Saturday, the main day of the feast. This is one among the few churches in Malankara where the Holy relics of Yaqu'b Burdhono is installed.

CHELAKKARA, TRICHUR: The feast of St. Baselios started at St. George JSO Puthen Pally here. Vicar, Fr. Jacob Jayesh Pulikkottil hosted the flag on Sunday, after the Holy Qurbono.
