Baretho Mehero Thampu George, Thukalan, Secretary of Malankara Jacobite Syrian Association was the chief guest for the function.

Fr. M.J Daniel, Fr. Dr. C.G Mathew (Editor of "Thadevoos" Magazine), Fr. Dr. Bency Mathew Ranni were present and addressed the audience.

St. Basil's JSO Church started at Boston Area

Boston: The new church for the Syriac Orthodox Church in North America in Boston was established by the archdiocese metropolitan Eldho Mor Titus on August 30, 2009. The church was named after the saint of the Syriac Orthodox Church, St. Eldho Mor Baseliose, who is entombed at Kothamangalam Cheriyapalli. The first Holy Qurbono was led by Archbishop Eldho Mor Titus and assisted by Fr. Punnoose Abraham and Dn. Moncy Jacob of St. Stephen's Knanaya church, Boston and Mr. Roy Varghese, Alex, Sanal, Anil, and Mr. John Jacob. This is the first church in the North America named after St. Eldho Mor Baseliose.

A public meeting was conducted after the Holy Qurbono with representatives from different Malayalee churches in Boston area delivering their greetings to the new church. Messages from vicars of all Malayalee churches in Boston area were read in the meeting. Archbishop Eldho Mor Titus greeted the church members and described the life history of St. Basil. Diocesan treasurer Mr. Abraham Mathew represented the diocese council and greeted the church. Vice president of St. Basil's Syriac Orthodox Church (the new church), Dr. Abraham Varghese welcomed the gathering and secretary, Dr. Sinu P. John thanked every one who participated.

The officials of the church later informed that feast of the saint Mor Baseliose, will be conducted in the new church on October 2 and 3rd this year. Sunday School in the new church will be started under the leadership of Dr. Joby Eldho from next week.

Requested the Holy Synod to ordain and appoint new Bishops for Bangalore, Culcutta, Bombay & Chennai Dioceses.

Meenangadi: His Beatitude Catholicose Dr. Aboon Mor Baselios Thomas I, H.G Mor Athanasius Elias, H.G Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose and H.G Mor Anthonios Yaq'ub were accorded a grand welcome at Meenangadi Mor Elias Aramana Chapel, at Malabar Diocese Head Quarters, here on Aug 28 at 1.00 PM. A meeting of Trustees, Secretaries & Vicars of all parishes was convened at Metropolitan Chapel. Diocesan Metropolitan H.G Mor Irenios Paulose welcomed Catholicose, Metropolitans and others.  'Catholica Dhina Pirivu' of Malabar Diocese was handed over to His Beatitude Catholicose. Mor Athanasius, Dr. Mor Clemis and Mor Anthonios spoke. 81st Birth Day of H.B Catholicose also celebrated. Later 'Dhoopa Prarthana' was conducted at the sacred tomb of the first metropolitan of Malabar, L.L Mor Philaxinose Samuel at St. Peter's & St. Paul's JSO Cathedral, Meenangadi by Catholicose and metropolitans. Sabha working Committee member Rev. Fr. Jacob Michael Pulliyattel, Chev. A. I.Kuriakose Adukalil, Members of Youth Association and Bhadrasana Samrakshana Samithy were present and led the function. Catholicose and metropolitans later visited St. Gregorios B.Ed College and addressed the students and lecturers and participated in the 'Onam Sadhya' arranged there.

Auxiliary Metropolitan for Honavar Mission H.G Mor Anthonios Yaq'ub, Metropolitan of Idukki Diocese H.G Dr. Mor Clemis Kuriakose & Metropolitan of Antiochian Movement H.G Mor Athanasius Elias will accompany His Beatitude. A warm welcome will be given to HB and metropolitans by Youth Association, Malabar Diocese at Mor Elias Aramana Chapel. Diocesan Metropolitan H.G Mor Irenios Paulose will handover the Fund to the Catholicose. Later a meeting of the Trustees & Secretaries of churches, Working Committee & Managing Committee Members from the diocese and Diocesan Council Members will be held under the president ship of the Catholicose at Mor Elias Aramana Chapel.

Jacobite church has started proceedings to take back all Churches & Properties of Jacobite church unlawfully possessed by "Metran Kakshi" - H. B Catholicose Dr. Aboon Baselios Thomas I said when addressing the Angamaly Region Diocesan meeting.

Ordination ceremony was led by H.E Mor Philoxinos Mattiyas Nayis, the Patriarchal Assistant, and assisted by H.E Mor Dionnasios Behanam Jajavi, H.G Dr. Mor Gregorios Joseph(Metropolitan of Diocese of Kochi & Secretary to the Holy Episcopal Synod in Malankara) and H.G Mor Yulios Kuriakose(Metropolitan of Simhasana Churches & Institutions in Malankara). Final consummation service of ordination was blessed by H.H The Patriarch. Morning prayer started at 8 AM and Holy Qurbono at 9.00 AM at Mor Aphrem Dayara Chapel. Ordination held in between the Qurbono after the Bartsmalko.

Bangalore: The first death anniversary service of Col. Jojan Thomas will be held tomorrow (Sat, Aug 22) at 8:30 AM at St. George Knanaya Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Domlur, Bangalore. HG Mor Ivanios Kuriakose (Assistant Metropolitan of Knanaya Arch Diocese & Metropolitan of Ranni & Outer Kerala Knanaya Regions) will lead the Holy Tri Mass. Two Army Brigadiers and the BBMP Commissioner will pay homage on behalf of the Indian Army & Govt. of Karnataka. The death of Col.  Jojan Thomas happened in an encounter with militants in Kupwara in Jammu and Kashmir. Col. Thomas was killed as he led a quick reaction team from 45 Rashtriya Rifles in the dense forests of Macchal sector, near the Line of Control. His team shot down six militants and he was one of the four Indian soldiers who were killed in the battle. He is the highest ranking Army officer to be killed in counter insurgency operations offlate in Kashmir. Nation honoured this brave soldier by giving Ashoka Chakra in Jan 2009 (posthumous).

Mangalore: A new congregation has started at Moodabadri, in the name of St. Mary on August 2nd, Sunday, under Paurasthya Suvishesha Samajam, Mangalore Region. The first Holy Mass was conducted by Rev Fr P K Abraham. The Holy Qurbono was attended by Fr Varghese Padingarakara, Fr Jijan Abraham and hundreds of faithfull. Thiruvananthapuram: A new chapel in the name of St: George under St. Peters Jacobite Syrian Simhasana Cathedral has been started at Peroorkada , Thiruvananthapuram on 01.08.2009. The first Holy Qurbono was celebrated by Rev. Fr. Daniel Joseph Edapulavan , Vicar of St. Peters JSS Cathedral. The Holy Qurbono was attended by Rev.Fr. Abraham Kattathara, Vicar of St: Mary’s JSS church, Pongumoodu TVPM and Rev. Dn. Dr. Paul Samuel. Hundreds of faithful attended the inaugural mass today which also marks the beginning of Soonoyo Lent. The day also happens to be the Death Annieversary of Late Rev.Fr. Mathews Vadakkeparambil, the ex-Vicar of St:Peters Church who died while during his term of office here. Bar Eto Briro Dr. D. Babu Paul, Trustee Mr. M. Samuel and Secretary Mr Reji Abraham were present on the occasion.
This is the third worship place in Thiruvananthapuram for the Jacobite faithful in the capital city of Kerala. The chapel is located about 10 kms from the city centre on route to Nedumangad and Ponmudi Hill station.The chapel is now functioning on the first floor of a rented building, kindly given by a CSI faithful on the main road side and has ample space for parking. About 50 families having membership of St:Peters Church are residing near the chapel and this will be a great blessing for those around. It is estimated that more than 150 Jacobite families are residing in a 3 km radius in this area who attend IOC and other churches for convenience sake. Similar conditions prevail in other parts of the city. The IOC churches have a good number of membership from SOC faithful.  The managing committee under the able leadership of Rev. Fr. Daniel Joseph and Trustee Mr. M. Samuel is actively organising the arrangements for the above said developments. This chapel will be converted to a church within a couple of years.
