CWME Officers Meet in Dubai.
Dubai: The Officers
of the Commission on World Mission and Evangelism (CWME) of the
World Council of Churches (WCC) met in Dubai to finalize the list of
participants for the Pre-Assembly Mission Confernce of the CWME, to
be held in March 2012 in Manila, the Philippines. Dr. Mor Coorilos
Geevarghese, Moderator of CWME, Dr. Jooseop Kuem, Director and
Secretary of CWME and Mrs. Maria Kutatzi in place of Dr. Kirsteen
Kim, Vice Moderator of CWME attended the Officers meeting which was
held at the Milllennium Airport Hotel in Dubai on 23 rd and 24th of
August 2011. The meeting also discussed plans for various plenaries
and resource persons for the Manila Conference. About 200
participants from member churches and affiliated bodies of the WCC
are expected to participate in the Conference which will adopt a New
WCC Mission Statement.
MYLAPORE: The
council meeting of Mylapore Diocese was held on 20th August 2011 at
St. Thomas Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Annanagar, Chennai,
presided by Diocese Metropolitan H.G. Issac Mor Osthatheos. Salary
Pay Commission Report for the Priest’s of Mylapore Diocese was read
by Fr. K.J John, Clergy Secretary of the Diocese and was passed by
council members for implementation with effect from 1st April
2011.Mylapore Diocese activities report was read by Secretary Fr.Aby
Alias, and Annual Accounts for the year ended 31st March 2011 was
presented by Treasurer K Babu Varghese.
Metropolitan H.G Issac Mor Osthatheos stressed the need to start
more service centre’s, particularly in Adyar, which comes in South
Chennai and close to many software companies, where many of our
faithful are employed and residing. It was proposed by our
Metropolitan to start a service centre in Adyar from October
2011.His Grace informed the council that a proposal of Mylapore
Diocese to start a public school for the weaker sections of the
society by next academic year. The School will function in Retteri,
North Chennai under the guidance of Rev.Fr. K.J John, retired
principal and well known educationist.
H.G Issac Mor Osthatheos also informed the council that Rev. Fr. K.
J. John, Clergy Secretary of our Diocese will be elevated to the
rank of Corepiscopa by His Beatitude Catholicose Baselious Thomas
1st on 26th August 2011 at Patriarchal Cathedral, Puthencruz. and
Rev. Fr. T.M. Mathews, Vicar of St. Mary's Church Kelambakkam will
be decorated with a Pectoral Cross and Chain, Blessed and permitted
by His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatios Zakka 1 Iwas, the Prince
Patriarch of Antioch and all the East.
Mr. Valsalan P Varghese was elected as Laity Secretary of Diocese to
assist Diocese Secretary. The meeting was attended by priests and
council members of Mylapore Diocese comprising of Parishes in Tamil
Nadu and Andhra Pradesh. The meeting concluded with prayers.
SCM India, Union Christain College unit started the activities for
next one year.

Vaccation Bible
School organized by St. George Jacobite Church, Leeds Concluded.
LEEDS: The vacation
bible school for the children in Leeds have received a wider
appreciation from all the Christian denominations. Classes were
conducted by the St. George Jacobite Church was a great succes, and
it was the second time conducted by the church, which invited
children from all Christian communities. Classes were helped the
children to improve the importance of being a good Christian child
,while they live in a country which forget Jesus Christ and his
great teachings, also classes were focused to give the children the
importance to keep the family values and importance to obey their
parents. Three day long classes started on the Thursday and finished
on Saturday with the lunch feast (sneha virunnu). Vicar Fr. Peter
Kuriakose appreciated all the Sunday School teachers who worked hard
to made the event a huge success. Deacon Eldho Mathew, Binumon

Shrine of St. Mary, the Mother of God, adjacent to St. George
Jacobite Syrian Church, Lazar Nagar, Avadi, Chennai, was consecrated
by H.G. Issac Mor Osthatheos, Metropolitan of Mylapore and Delhi
Dioceses on 20th August 2011 Saturday at 6.30.pm. After Blessing the
Shrine, Enshrinement of the Holy Relics of St. George (The Holy
Bone) was held in the Shrine. H.G Issac Mor Osthatheos lead the
prayers assisted by many Priests including Vicar of the Church
Fr.Aby Paul, Fr.K.J.John, Fr.T M Mathews, Fr.Aby Alias, Decons and
hundreds of faithful participated.

Zurich: Annual
Perunnal of St. Mary celebrated at Zurich, St. Mary's JSOC on 21st
in Switzerland. On 21st, Rev. Fr. Prince Mannathoor (The Vicar) lead
the Holy Mass followed by special intercession prayer to St. Mary.
Perunnal message was given after the Holy Mass. Lots of faithful
participated in the Holy Mass and the feast there after. Following

The 2nd Youth Camp
of Delhi Diocese was held on 20th August 2011 at St. Mary's J S
Church Mayur Vihar - 3, Delhi - 96. The Camp was inaugurated by Very
Rev. C M Markose Kocheril Cor Episcopa. The class was taken by Rev.
Fr. Vinayanand OIC (Malankara) on the topic “Influence and Relevance
of Biblical Leaders among Youth in present context – a psychological
perspective”. Rev. Fr. Issac Mathew was also taken a detailed class
about the Jacobite Syrian Church History to the audience. About 100
youth members along with Vicar from various parishes attended the
camp. The camp ended with a cultural session organized by Christian
Worship Service from Dilshad Garden, Delhi.

the Diocese of Colombo.
Colombo: Dr.
Geevarghese Mor Coorilos, Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese and the
new Patriarchal Vicar for Sharja, Alain and Rasal Khaima led the
annual retreat of the Anglican clergy of the diocese of Colombo. The
retreat was held at Subodhi Retreat Centre, Colombo from 15-19
August 2011. Mor Coorilos led seven sessions during the retreat and
focussed on the theme of Holiness. About 55 clergy participated. Rt.

The traditional day
of Virgin Mary was celebrated with a great joy in the church of
Virgin Mary, Harput. Mor Gregorios Melki Urek lead the Holy mass
which was conducted at Virgin Mary Church which is the oldest church
in the World. A wonderful mass was conducted with lots of people
participating from around the city. With the participation of Elazıg
Governor and Chief of Police a cultural program was organised. In
this program a plaque was given to Monk Gabriel Akkurt for his 25th
Anniversary of priesthood by Shamosho Evangelio Dr. Ishak Tanoglu
who is the president of the foundation of Virgin Mary Church. And
also a pleque was given to Mehmet Simsek by Mor Gregorios Melki Urek
for his contrubition to Syrian culture through his books.
Islamic Radicals Bomb Syriac Orthodox Church In Kirkuk on August
15th.
15 August 2011;
Kirkuk, Iraq; A bomb exploded last night near the St Ephraim Syriac
Orthodox Church in Kirkuk, which is just a few hundreds of meters
from the Chaldean cathedral, in central part of the city. The device
blew up at 1.30 am and there were no victims. The damages to the
church were however huge
(pictured).
This incident is the latest in a string of attacks against
Christians and their places of worship. On 2 August, a car bomb
exploded in front of the Holy Family Syrian Catholic Church,
wounding 15 people. The bomb had been placed inside a car, parked
near the building. On the same day, another bomb also placed in a
car parked near a Presbyterian church was defused before it went
off. Islamic fundamentalists, who remain very active, as well as
groups involved in local feuds, have targeted Iraqi Christians.

St. Mary, the Mother of God, at Lazar Nagar, Close to St. George
Jacobite Syrian Church, Avadi, Chennai, will be consecrated by
H.G.Issac Mor Osthatheos Metropolitan of Mylapore and Delhi Diocese
on 20th of August 2011 Saturday at 6.30.pm. After Blessing the
Shrine, the Holy Relics of St. George (The Holy Bone) will be
installed in the shrine. Fr. T.M. Mathews, Vicar of St.Mary's Church
Kelampakam and former Vicar of St. Ignatius Simhasana Church Veperi
will be decorated with a Pectoral Cross and Chain, Blessed and
permitted by His Holiness Moran Mor Ignatios Zakka 1 Iwas, the
Prince Patriarch of Antioch and all the East. He has completed his
25th year of priesthood in outside kerala Dioceses. All are

function and delivered the speech. Sri. Dany K George
delivered the welcome speech. H.G Mor Coorilose & Rev
Priests lead the evening prayer which was followed by the
main speech of Chevliar Bibby Abraham (Chief editor viswasa
samrakshakan). All the participants participated in the
discussion which lead to the formation of decisions for the
future functioning of MBSC. A Pilot Project has been
launched by including few dioceses to make a Directory of
the churches and institutions. Decisions were taken to
strengthen the functioning of "Shlomo" Sri. Benni Varghese &
Sri. Sacharia Mathew were given the charge by H.G Mor
Coorilose for coordinating the functioning of "Shlomo", for
organizing the nature camps and for starting the units at
all the churches. M.G University Asst. Prof. Dr. sailus
delivered the speech on "Church & Me".
Campers stayed
at Mor gregorian centre after the dinner. Next day camp got
dispersed afterattending Holy Mass at Paramkal st. Mary's
JSOC. Due to Health reasons H.B Bava was not able to travel
the whole distance till thiruvalla. H.B conveyed the wishes
to MBSC team through Mor Coorilose. Next camp will be hosted
by H.G Mathews Mor Aprem at High range region of Angamaly
Diocese. Forty campers from various locations in India
participated.

Syrian Church Mayur Vihar Phase-III, Delhi celebrated the Soonoyo
Perunnal (feast of Assumption of St. Mary) on 14-15th August 2011.
After the Holy Mass on Sunday, 14th the perunnal flag hoisting was
done by Vicar Rev. Fr. Issac Mathew. After the evening prayer on
14th, procession was held in which many devotees participated.
Colourful embellished umbrellas, church flags, songs, lighted
candles, panchavadyam, and fireworks were added the vibrant of the
procession. Nercha Sadhya was organized on 14th evening after the
procession.
On Monday, 15th morning, Holy Mass was conducted by H.G. Mathews Mar
Theodosius Metropolitan, Kollam Diocese. Prior to the Holy Mass,
flag hoisting of the Preparatory School run by the church was done
by H.G. Mathews Mar Theodosius Metropolitan, Kollam, Kerala. Rev.
Vicars from other churches under the Delhi Diocese were also present
at the holy mass on 15th. Perunnal message was given by H.G. Mathews
Mar Theodosius Metropolitan.
Following the Holy Mass on 15th, a meeting was arranged in which
prizes for Sunday school children were given by H.G. Mathews Mar
Theodosius Metropolitan. Ponnada was given to the members who have
completed 60 years. Momentos were given to the couple who have
completed 25 years of married life. The children of Class X and XII
were felicitated with Academic Excellence Award by H.G. Mathews Mar
Theodosius Metropolitan. Lunch was organized on 15th after the
function.

15.08.2011 with the theme ‘Set an example’ 1 Timothy 4:12. Akhil
Iype Abraham, Youth Secretary welcomed the gathering. The seminar

Anish delivered the theme presentation. Icebreaking session

Niranam Diocese to organize Family Conference on September 10th.
Thiruvalla:
The diocese of Niranam will organize a Family Conference on
September 10 at St. George Jacobite Cathedral, Kavumbhagam,
Thiruvalla. This will be the first ever family conference of
the diocese. Perhaps, this is the first time, a diocese
within Kerala is organizing a diocesan family conference.
Preparations are going on under the leadership of diocesan
Metropolitan Mor Coorilos Geevarghese and Fr. Matthew
Philip, the diocesan Secretary, for the successful
organization of the family get together and retreat. His
Beatitude Aboon Mor Baselius Thomas 1, the Catholicos of the
East will formally inaugurate the family conference at 10 am
on September 10. The retreat and counseling sessions will be
led by the well known "Dhyana Guru" of our Church, Mor
Philexinos Zacharias, Metropolitan of Malabar diocese and
His Grace's team. The registration for the conference has
already commenced and around 300 families have already

Thiruvalla:
Delegates meeting of Niranam diocese Youth Association was held at
Theeram Bishop's House, Mazhuvangadu on Sunday, August 7th. Elected
representatives from various churches attended the meeting and
planned programs for the next twelve months. It was decide to extend
all support for the success of the first ever Family Conference of
Niranam Diocese, to be held at St. George Jacobite Cathedral on
September 10. The meeting also urged the State Government to take

society and to revisit the declared Ploicy with this perspective in

Synod in India visiting the Patriarch, His Holiness Moran Mor
Ignathios Zakka Iwas from 3rd August in Maarat Sednayya. His
Eminence will be in Sednayya till 6th August. There was detailed
discussions about the malankara affairs (the affairs of our church
in India)on His Eminence's 2 days meeting with H.H. His Eminence Mor
Phelexinos Mathias Nayis,the Patriarchal Assistant, Bar Itho Ardeklo
commander Santhosh John and Raban Matthew Karimpanackal, secretary
to His Holiness for Indian affairs were participated in the
discussions.

Home for Aged Destiitutes (Shanthibhavan) of St. Thomas Charitable
Trust which is under the patronage of St. Thomas JSO Church
Annanagar, was completely renovated. The house blessing was done by
Fr. Aby Alias , Vicar of the Church assisted by Fr. Aby Paul ,Vicar

New Office bearers elected for Thumpamon Diocese JSOYA.
THUMPAMON: New
Office bearers elected for Thumpamon Diocese JSOYA at the annual
general body meeting held here. Rev. Fr. Aby Stephen ( Vice
President), Binu Thomas (Vice President), Vipin John Kuriakose (Gen.
Secretary) & Lijo oommen (Trustee) are the new representatives from
JSOYA Thumpamon Diocese.
Members of Mor Gregorian Youth Association, Hosa Road Bangalore
visited SFS Boys destitute home.
BANGALORE: Members
of Mor Gregorian Youth Association under St. Gregorious JSOC, Hosa
Road, Bangalore visited SFS Boys destitute home and distributed the
charity fund. A group of Youth members along with Vicar Very. Rev.
Roy Kochattu Chorepiscopa were accorded a warm welcome at SFS Boys
home. They spent time mingling with the kids and had lunch with the
members of the boys home. 83rd Birthday of our beloved Catholicose
H.B Baselious Thomas 1st was celebrated at the boys home by cutting
the cake and distributing sweets to the children at destitute home.
Youth members were rejuvenated by their experience of visiting the
destitute home. The Boys home manager Rev Fr.. Jaison
thanked the group for spending their valuable time with the members
of SFS.

Delhi Minority commission visited Honorable Chief Minister Smt.
Sheela Dikshit. Mor Osthathiose Issac Metropolitan of Delhi &
Mylapore Diocese represented JSOC. The delegation put proposals
before the Government of Delhi to open a center or institute for
inter -community harmony and integration.

occasion for being elected as the All Malankara Youth Association
President & Kollam Diocese MJSSA Vice President respectively. Church
Prayer fellowship distributed educational aids to the needy

Houston: His Grace Mor Dioscoros Kuriakose
Metropolitan, the Chief of Malecruz Dayoro and bishop for Simhasana
Churches is presently visiting the Malankara Archdiocese Parishes in
the city of Houston ,Texas ,USA. On Thursday, July 28th,2011
Metropolitan has received a grand reception at the Bush
International Airport Houston. Priests, Archdiocesan Council
Members, Spiritual Organization Leaders and several faithful have
attended . Rev. Fr. Saji Kuriakose (Vicar,St.Marys Syrian Orthodox
Church, Houston), Rev. Fr. Varghese Paul (Vicar, St. Peters Syrian
Orthodox Church Houston), Mr. Babu Vadakkedathu (Archdiocesan
Council member), Mr. George Paily ( Archdiocesan Regional Sunday
School Inspector), Mr. John Chandapillai (Joint Secretary of St.
Pauls Fellowship) have presented flower bouquet to His Grace.
On Sunday,July 31st Mor Dioscoros celebrated Holy Qurbono at
St.Marys Church and later His Grace visited the St.Peters Church.
During the Sermon thirumeni explained the importance of the 7th
sunday after the Pentecost and advised faithful to follow the right
path on their spiritual life." If any house or city fight against
itself won't last longer, come to church for Prayer, Worship,
Fellowship and Service only .Stay away from evil spirits.If we serve
the God , we will be rewarded, God won't debt to anyone." added Mor
Dioscoros .On Saturday thirumeni inaugurated the VBS and lead
sessions for children and teachers.

"St. Paul's Mission Chapel Consecration in Bihar: An unforgettable
experience" Says Mor Coorilose Geevarghese.
Consecration experience in our beloved H.G Mor Coorilose's Words
The temporary
consecration of the newly built church, St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian
Church, under St. Paul's Mission of India, the official mission
organization of the Jacobite Church, was held on Sunday July 24. I
have had the privilege of consecrating the church in Telmar village
of Bihar. The entire experience of the consecration and the
fellowship with the new community of believers was an unforgettable
and a rich spiritual experience. Hundreds of villagers participated
in the consecration liturgy. The intensity of their faith amidst
intense threats and difficult conditions such as abject poverty and
social marginalization was just incredible! One of our new members
of the church, for instance, used to vehemently oppose all our
mission work among the villagers. He (for obvious reasons, I am not
mentioning his name here) was imprisoned for years for having killed
another villager, following a village feud. His wife came under the
influence of the gospel message of love and compassion and through
her, he has also joined our church. When I met him in our new church
in Telmar, he reminded me of Saul who used to persecute Christians
and later was converted on the Damscus road and became one of the
most influential ambassadors of Christ ever! Who knows what God has
in store for this man in Telmar. I'm sure God will use this man and
his family to do mighty deeds for the Kingdom of God. I thank God
for the work of St. Paul's Mission in various parts of our country
where the light and freedom of the gospel has not reached as yet.
For me and the team of about 20 people who went from Kerala to
participate in the consecration of the new church, it was
spiritually a reassuring and rewarding experience. In fact, as you
can see in some of the pictures attached herewith, our team from
Kerala with four priests, worked day and night, whitewashing and
cleaning the church building before the consecration. Such is their
dedication and commitment. The amazing work that is being done in
Bihar under the leadership of our missionaries, Mr. Viju Paulose and
his wife Beena Viju and Mr. Joby M.S is commendable. I request all
of you to uphold them and the entire work of St. Paul's Mission in
your prayers. Let me also thank all those who have helped the
mission through their generous contributions that made this new
church a reality. We now have more than 100 families that are
worshipping in our church in Telmar. About 17 of them have taken
baptism and I served Holy Communion to them. I was moved, seeing
their faith, when I gave Holy Communion to these believers. In fact,
i had tears of joy in my eyes and I said the words that Jesus spoke
once: "Not even in Israel, have I seen such faith"
St. Pauls's Mission now has some 50 mission fields, spread across
15 states in India. Our missionaries are doing God's work under very
trying conditions. The living conditions of the people among whom
Our missionaries work are pathetic. Poverty, illiteracy, lack of
decent clothing, housing, sanitation facilities etc, caste
discrimination...the list of challenges is endless. The change that
has been brought to these lives through the gospel is beyond words.
I humbly encourage all our faithful to make an effort to visit our
mission fields and experience the wonders of the gospel at work,
personally. I'm sure such visits would change your lives as well.
Please do continue to pray for St. Paul's Mission it's missionaries.
Let us thank God for the abundant grace and mercy that our mission
work is receiving from God Almighty.
We are also facing an acute shortage of full time priests for our
mission work. Those who have come to the Church are thirsting for
Holy Qurbana every Sunday. Sadly, though, we are not able to provide
it to our new faithful communities due to non-availability of
priests. This is therefore also an appeal to our young brothers who
feel called by God to full time mission work as priests to think of
St. Paul' Mission as an opportunity to serve the poor and the needy
in our country and through them, to serve God.

Omalloor St. Peter's JSO "Valiya Pally". Panchayat President P. R
Kuttappan Nair inagurated the function. H.G Youhanon Mor Milithiose
Presided over the function. Very. rev. Fr. E. K Mathews Chorepscopa,
rev. Fr. Joseph V varghese, rev. Fr. Davis P thankachan, Jose Sleeba,
V. D daniel, Biju. K Thampi, Shanthi roy, P. T Thomas, Vipin
Kuriakose, Rev. Fr. Aby Stephen & Binu vazhamuttam spoke during the
occassion. Rev. Fr. Aby Stephen presented the plan for next year to
the members. This includes the Youth fest for JSOYA, helping the
tribes and to reorganize the JSOYA Thumpamon diocese by attracting
more youth by enriching them spiritually. Sri.Idiculla A.I(Senior
Officer,BSNL Tiruvalla) handled the session on awareness of cyber
crimes.
