rights for the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in
the Cemetery of Kaadeesa Jacobite Syrian Orthodox
Church, Kayamkumlam..... Our rights were objected by
the Metran Kakshis since the last 30 years....
In a historic
judgement, The Special Court, Ernakulam granted
equal rights for the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church
in the Cemetery of Kaadeesa Jacobite Syrian Orthodox
Church, Kayamkumlam. The Jacobite Church will have
equal rights along with the Metran Kakshis who have
been objecting to our rights since the last 30
years.
The last 30
years had been one of persecution for the Jacobite
faithful of Kayamkulam Kaadeesa Church. The ugly
scenes created by Metran Kakshis during the funeral
of departed Jacobite faithfuls belonging to this
church and the disrespect shown to the bodies of the
departed can be never forgotten by the faithful of
this church. A hefty fees was charged by the Metran
Kakshis from the Jacobites for burying their dear
ones in the Cemetery of this church. A few months
back, they had even gone to the extent of
desecrating the tombs of the departed belonging to
the Jacobite Church.
This landmark
judgment given by Justice. Harul Rasheed is an
answer from God for the tears and prayers of the
persecuted and suffering faithful of Kaadessa JSO
Church, Kayamkulam. Let us thank God Almighty and
congratulate the true believers of Kayamkulam
Kadeesa JSO Church for having remained in the true
faith handed over to us inspite of the persecutions.

The Oriental Orthodox Churches Council Meeting held at St. Mary's
Armenian Orthodox Church, Glendale, California.
CA, USA: Hosted by
the Armenian Orthodox Prelacy of the Western US, the heads of the
Oriental Orthodox Churches accompanied by clergy representatives,
met on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2010. The meeting was held at St.
Mary Armenian Orthodox Church, Glendale, California.
Attendees of the Syriac Orthodox Church were: His Eminence
Archbishop Mor Clemis Eugene Kaplan accompanied by very Rev. Fr.
Abdulahad Shara, and Rev. Fr. Louis Yacoub. From the Armenian Church
were His Eminence Archbishop Moushegh Mardirossian, with Rev. Fr.
Bartev Gouloumian, and Rev. Fr. Vasken Atmajian. From the Coptic
Orthodox Church His Grace Bishop Serapion, accompanied with Rev. Fr.
David Abdelsayed.
The Prelates and clergy discussed matters of mutual interest that
were listed on the agenda, and the activities of the three Unified
churches. In particular the Sunday School and the youth programs
were addressed in the meeting. The attendees praised the Sunday
School activities stating they are successful events. A decision was
made to schedule a Youth Seminar for the Oriental Orthodox Churches
on Saturday, February 19, 2011 with the presence of the prelates.
The next joint Clergy Divine Liturgy and Meeting will held at St.
Mary Coptic church in Eagle Rock on Thursday, May 5th, 2011.
After the meeting all attendees enjoyed a Thanksgiving lunch, which
was provided by the hosting church.

said Archbishop H.E Mor Titus. The Archbishop was addressing the
gathering while inaugurating the Family Night 2010 celebrations of
St.James Syrian Orthodox Church in Livingston, NewJersey.
No stable parish would be possible without true fear of God,
Prayerful worship and sacrifice among members , Mor Titus added.
Archbishop congratulated the clergy and members for their spiritual
growth and achievements within the short period of time.

KOLKATA:The Gospel
Covention of The St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, 64-H,
Linton Street, Kolkata-700 014 started on Friday, the 26th November
2010 and concluded on today. The theme for this year's program was
“And Jesus said to Him, Today salvation has come to this house,
because he also is a son of Abraham” and the main speaker was Mr.
Benny Paul of Kuruppumpadi, Perumbavoor. The program started with a
Retreat in the first half of Friday, which was attended by many
members of the Vanitha Samajam of the Parish.
On the evening of the first day, Mr. Benny Paul started his address
by quoting from Exodus: Chapter 6, Verses 2 & 3 which states -
“I am the Lord. I appeared to Abraham, to Issac, and to Jacob as
Almighty God, but I did not make myself known to them by my holy
name, the Lord”
During the speech, he did emphasize the need for turning to God with
all the problems one might have and then accept the Holy Confession
and the Holy Qurbono. He explained from his own experience that
nothing is impossible with the God as He is capable of giving us
much more than what we seek from Him once we accept Him as the God
Almighty. Many members from the sister Churches in Kolkata including
three priests attended the Convention apart from those of the
Kolkata Parish.

Conference & Retreat held at St. Mary's JSO Church, Houston
Houston: St.Mary's
Women's League and St.Paul's mens Prayer Fellowship of the Malankara
Archdiocese of North America - South West Region jointly conducted a
one day Conference and Retreat on Saturday November 6th at St.Mary's
Syrian Orthodox Church in Houston, Texas. The Theme of the
conference was " With what shall I come before the Lord and bow down
before the High God ? Shall I come before Him with burnt offerings,
with calves of a year old ?." Micah 6:6. Rev.Fr. Saji Kuriakose -
Vicar,St.Mary's Syrian Orthodox Church Houston, Mr.Saju Skaria AZ-
Regional Coordinator of St.Pauls Fellowship and Director of the
Patriarchal Center Project of Malankara Archdiocese and
Rev.Fr.K.P.Stephen - Vicar,St.Ignatius Church Dallas lead the
various sessions .Regional coordinators Mrs.Lucey Paily , Mr.Babu
Vadakkedath and Mr.George Paily ,the Program Coordinator worked hand
in hand with the managing committee members and spiritual
organization members of the host parish for the grand success of the
Conference.
The conference commenced with the morning prayer .Thereafter in a
brief opening ceremony Rev.Fr.V.M.Thomas, the vice president of the
St.Mary's Women's League of the Archdiocese inaugurated the meeting.
Mrs. Lucey Paily, the Regional Secretary of the St.Mary's Women's
League welcomed the conference delegates. Rev.Dn.Martin Babu was the
Master of Ceremony of the program. St.Marys Choir Group lead
melodious Gospel Songs during the ceremony. More than 150
participants attended the meeting.
Rev.Fr.Saji Kuriakose gave the key message based on the theme. In
his speech,Achen gave a powerful message about the importance of
leading a life with loving one another, sharing and caring. He
emphasized the need for adjusting our life styles and leading a
prayerful life that will be pleasing to the Lord. Mr.Saju Skaria
gave a presentation about " Christ Centered Leadership" and was very
educational and informative. Following his message, an open
discussion was held about family life and interaction with the
youth, based on his presentation. The afternoon session was
conducted by Rev.Fr.K.P.Stephen. Father Stephen discussed our day to
day lives and how we can apply the theme message to our personal and
family lives.
A " Quiz" program was conducted on the basis of New-Old Testament,
Holy Liturgy and Church History. Mr.George Paily, the program
coordinator served as the Quiz Master. Everyone participated with a
high level of enthusiasm. Rev.Fr.V.M.Thomas lead a concluding and
meditation session. Mr.Babu Vadakkedath, the Regional Coordinator of
St.Paul's Fellowship registered Vote of thanks to the gathering.

MEENANGADI:
Jacobite Syriac Orthodox Church Working Committee Member and Vice
President of MJSSA, Rev. Fr. Jacob Michael Pulliyattel awarded
Doctorate of Divinity (D.D) Degree for his research thesis entitled
'Gospel of St. John - A Study' from the coveted Logos Theological
Seminary. Rev. Dr. Jacob Michael did his research in the Department
of Biblical Studies (New testament), under the guidance of renowned
theologian Dr. H S Rasaily. The doctoral committee commented the
work as an outstanding one. Rev. Dr. Jacob Michael was honoured by
His Holiness Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas for his services to the
Holy Church with a Cross in 2010.

Diocese held on November 20, Saturday at Baselios Paulose II Nagar
(T John College Campus), Bennarghatta Road, Bangalore. Metropolitans

Athanasius Elias (Working President - AVSS) and Mor Dioscorus

and Leadership Campaign of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Youth
Association (JSOYA) held at St. Thomas JSO Church, Annanagar
Chennai
CHENNAI: The Annual Meeting and Leadership
Camp of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Youth Association (JSOYA) was
organised on 20th & 21st Nov 2010. St Thomas JSO Church Annanagar,
Chennai hosted the meeting and the camp. Around 55 delegates from
various Churches in Malankara attended the Camp.
H.G. Mor Irenios Paulose, President - JSOYA inaugurated the Camp. In
his inaugural speech he stressed the need to strengthen the
association activities in every church unit. Felicitations were
offered by Rev. Aby Alias Kasheesha, Vicar St Thomas JSO Church,
Annanagar, Mr. K M Thomas, Trustee St. Thomas Charitable Trust and
Mr. Eji K Mathews, Secretary, St Thomas JSO Church. Earlier, Rev.
Joy Anakuzhy Kasheesha, Vice President JSOYA welcomed the gathering
and Biju Thampi, Secretary, JSOYA proposed vote of thanks.

BHOPAL: The
Silver Jubilee Celebrations concluded at St. Thomas JSO Church,
Bhopal on Nov 14th. The Holy Tri - Mass was celebrated with His

7th A new website for the UK region was launched
LONDON, UK: The Malankara Jacobite Syrian
Orthodox Church - UK Regional council meeting was held at St. Thomas
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, London on Nov 7th. The Regional
Council meeting was chaired by HG Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese,
Patriarchal Vicar of the UK & Metropolitan of Niranam Diocese. All
the Priests and council members from all the parishes within the
region attended the meeting. The Council evaluated the progress and
growth of the Church in the region. Aiming at the younger
generation's active role and participation in the Church and its
activities, the Council adopted new plans to start sunday schools in
all Churches and centralise the operations of the existing Sunday
school into a centralised curriculum. The Council also adopted
various new steps for the growth of the Church in the region.
On this occasion His Grace launched the new official website for the
region.

THEERAM, THIRUVALLA: The 46th
Birthday of HG Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese was celebrated at Indian
Centre for Social Change - Theeram. Theeram is an institution where
about 220 mentally challenged children are being protected and taken
care of. HG Dr. Mor Coorilos is the Founder of Theeram.
The Birthday was celebrated by the Children, staff and well wishers
of Theeram. V. Rev Dr. Kuriakose Moolayil Cor-Episcopa, newly
elected members of the local bodies and other dignitaries
participated.
HG Dr. Coorilos, speaking to the gathering said that the children of
Theeram were his life and celebration.
The newly elected members of the three tier panchayath were also
felicitated and they pledged their support to Theeram and it's

at the Patriarchal Monastery in Ma`arat Sayyidnaya near Damascus on
Nov 15th. The delegation was led by the Vicar, Rev. Fr. Thomas P and V. Rev. Sleeba Kattumangattu Cor- Episcopa. The
delegation was welcomed by His Holiness in the presence of HG Mor
Philaxinos Mathias Nayis - Patriarchal Assistant & Director of St.
Ephraim's Theological Seminary.
His Holiness wished them pleasant stay in Syria, answered the

Holy Episcopal Synod visited His Holiness Pope Shenouda III,
Patriarch of Alexandria & the Pope of the Coptic Orthodox Church as
commissioned by His Holiness Mor Ignatius Zakka I Iwas Patriarch.
The visit took place on Nov 11th at the Patriarchal Headquarters in
Abbasiya, Cairo. His Grace was accompanied by HG Nareg Olimazian,
Director of Ecumenical relations in the Catholicosate of Cilicia of
the Armenian Orthodox Church. HG Abba Bishoy Metropolitan of
Damietta, Kafr El-Sheikh & the secretary of the Coptic Holy Synod
was present during the meeting. The issues related to the Middle

A new logo has been
launched for Malankara Syriac Voice. The new logo represents our
vision and mission. We stand for our Church. We stand for the truth.
We stand for peace. We stand for fellowship. These have been
represented in our new logo.
The new logo was designed by Mr. Abraham Jacob. He is a member of
St. George Universal Syrian Orthodox Church, Kuwait and has been
living in Kuwait for the past 35 years. He has served our Kuwait

KANDANAD: The Centenary of "Pambakuda Namaskaram" -
the daily prayer book of Jacobite Syrian Orthodox
Christians was celebrated at St. Baselios Shakrallah
Centre, Kandanadu near Kochi on Nov 14th. HG Mor
Barnabas Geevarghese Metropolitan presided over the
public meeting. Bar Etho Briro Dr. D Babu Paul (IAS)
was the main speaker on the occasion.
The Pambakuda Namsakaram was first published in
1910 by the then Malankara malpan V. Rev Konattu
Mathen Cor-Episcopa with the permission of His Holiness
Mor Ignatius Abdedaloho II Patriarch of blessed memory
by translating some parts of the ancient Syriac Prayer
book.
In his address, Dr. D Babu Paul explained to the
gathering the deep theological meanings hidden in the
prayers and meditations used in the 'Pambakuda
Namaskaram'. He insisted on the significance and
importance of prayers in our personal lives and family
life. Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church Secretary Bar
Etho M'hiro Shri. Thampu George Thukalan and Chev.
Bibby Abraham Kadavumbhagom - Chief Editor of
Vishwasasamrakshakan & Church Working committee member
spoke on the occasion.
As a commemoration of the centenary celebrations, an

was inaugurated by HG Mor Barnabas. The project to
translate the daily prayer book into English for the
benefit and use of the faithful living outside Kerala
was also launched.
The centenary celebrations were organised by Mor Behnan
Study Circle. On the 13th evening, the anniversary of
Mor Behnan Study Circle was held. Rev. Priests, Rev.
Deacons, members of the Mor Behnan Study Circle and a
large gathering of faithful participated in the
centenary celebrations.

Convention speakers Malankara church has ever produced. The
Manjanikkara pilgrims who, for a number of years woke up listening
to his melodious and thundering voice can never forget the beauty
with which he chanted the prayers.

108th Dukhrono of St. Gregorios of Malankara celebrated on
6th&7th November 2010. His Grace Dr. Mor Theophilose Kuriakose,

The history of this
beautiful church, begins in this city from March 1957. At that time
there was no place of worship, no funds, no assets and only a few
members, the future looked uncertain. A meeting held on 7th October
1975 resolved to form a spiritual group as their own to stick to the
faith under the Supreme Spiritual Head, the Patriarch of Antioch and
all the East. With the grace of God the first Holy Qurbono was
offered on 30th January 1976 by Rt. Rev. Cor Episcopa Thomas Moothedam
and the congregation was named as “St.Thomas Jacobite Syrian
Orthodox Church.” With the kind permission of Arch Bishop of Bhopal,
Holy Mass celebrated by various Vicars in the Catholic Church at
Jehangirabad and Berkheda till 12th August, 1985.
By the Grace of God, in 1983, a plot purchased at Ravishankar Nagar,
Bhopal and a beautiful church was erected. A long cherished dream
came to reality on 12th November, 1985, when Late Lamented HB
Catholicos Baselios Paulose-II along with two other Metropolitans
consecrated this church.

visionary and one of the most popular Convention speakers Malankara
church has ever produced. The Manjanikkara pilgrims who, for a
number of years woke up listening to his melodious and thundering
voice can never forget the beauty with which he chanted the prayers.

complaint of Vertigo
THIRUVALLA:
HG Mor Gregorios Kuriakose, Metropolitan of the Kallissery Region of
Knanaya Archdiocese was admitted to Pushpagiri Hospital today
because of a complaint of Vertigo. His Grace is under the doctor's
care & observation and recovering fast.
Vertigo, a symptom of a balance disorder, is the illusion of
movement when no movement is present. This can be caused by a
problem of the inner ear balance mechanisms. It is usually harmless.
As per the latest reports, H.G Mor Gregorios Thirumeni has been
discharged from the hospital today at 3.30pm. HG is all right now
but the doctors have recommended to continue the medicine and rest
for a week. There is nothing significant in his reports except
slightly increased Blood sugar levels. The reason behind the vertigo
is due to HG excess travelling in the last few days.
We request everyone to pray for the good health and speedy recovery
of His Grace.

Christians seek better legal inclusion

TARSUS, TURKEY:
The small Christian minority in this predominantly Muslim country is
hoping for an improvement to its legal and social situation as
Turkey comes under increasing pressure to address their problems and
after Abdullah Gul, Turkey's head of state, said publicly that he is
also the president of non-Muslims.
"We are citizens of Turkey," Bishop Mor Gregorios Melki Urek of the
Syriac-Orthodox Church said at a religious ceremony in the city of
Tarsus in southern Turkey last week. "Of course we want to improve
existing laws, not only for the benefit of Christians, but for all
of Turkey."
Bishop Urek had travelled to Tarsus from his home in Adiyaman in
north-eastern Turkey to participate in a church service attended by
Christian Wulff, the German president. The ceremony was part of a
week-long state visit to Turkey by Mr Wulff. Representatives of five
different Christian denominations joined the president for the
service in the St Paul church of Tarsus, named after Paul, a key
figure in early Christianity who was born in Tarsus about 2,000
years ago.

congregation for the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church started at
Sagar in Shimoga District, Karnataka
SHIMOGA,
KARNATAKA: A new congregation has been started for the Jacobite
Syrian Orthodox Church at Sagar in Shimoga District of Karnataka
state. V. Rev. C M George Cor - Episcopa, senior priest of the
Honnavar Mission celebrated the first Holy Qurbono on Nov 5th. About
50 faithful of the Jacobite Syrian church participated in the divine
liturgy.
Sagar is about 70 kms from Shimoga and about 30 kms from the world
famous Jog Falls. The congregation has been formed under the St.

KOOTHATTUKULAM:
The Consecration ceremony of the newly constructed Mor Gregorios
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church, Koothattukulam is on 19th and 20th
of November 2010. This church was earlier known as Thottupuram
Chapel and recently it was elevated as a Parish church.
As per the Bull No.156 dated 15.10.1952 of the then Malankara
Metropolitan & Metropolitan of Kandanad Diocese St. Athanasius
Valiya Thirumeni, it was permitted to celebrate holy mass in this
chapel. The chapel has been functioning as an Independent Chapel for
the last 58 years and now it has been elevated to the status of a
Parish Church by H.G Dr. Mor Ivanios Mathews, Metropolitan of
Kandanad Diocese. All sections of the people in the locality,
irrespective of their cast and creed participate in the ceremonies
conducted in the evenings on every Saturday and in the morning
service on every Sunday under the leadership of the Vicar, Rev. Fr.
Abey Mathew Elanganamattom and receive blessings . The Holy Mooron
Koodasha of this newly renovated church will be done by H.B Dr. Mor

SAYYIDNAYA, DAMASCUS/MALECURIZ: As per the recommendation of
Reesh Dayaroyo Mor
Dioscorus Kuriakose (Metropolitan of the Simhasana Churches in
Malecuriz & Environs, Metropolitan of Bangalore and Patriarchal
Vicar of Ireland), His Holiness through
the Apostolic Bull No. E.166/10 dated 22 September 2010, conferred
Very Rev. Phinehas Ramban the title, "Dayroyo Naseeho", which means
"Illustrious Monk".
Those who knows Phinehas Ramban would testify his saintly life at
Malecuriz Dayaro. While working in the P&T Department at
Thiruvananthapuram, Mr. Joseph had an irrepressible inner call to
devote his life for the Lord's glory. Restless in spirit he wrote
about it to Mor Philoxenos Paulose Metropolitan (Catholicose Paulose
II) of blessed memory. After a series of correspondence and
discussions he resigned his job in November 1967 and came to the
Metropolitan's Aramana in Muvattupuzha marking the beginning of his
Dayaro life. In 1976 he moved to the Malecuriz Dayaro as per the
express desire of the Catholicos where he served also as teacher in
the seminary till it was shifted to Udayagiri. Since he entered the
portals of the monastery he has never gone out of its bounds except
in the church processions during holy feats.
As per the Holy Apostolic Bull of H.H Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka I
Iwas, The Patriarch of Antioch and all the East, No. 289/2006 Mor Dioscorus
Kuriakose ordained Dn. Joseph (Joseph sir), as a full
deacon (mSamshono Evangeloyo) on 21 October 2006, Oct 28, as
a Priest, and on November 02, as a Dayaroyo (Ramban), at
Malecuriz Dayaro.
He is now 78 years and is always involved in praying, teaching,
preaching or giving spiritual counsel. Number of Metropolitans,
hundreds of Priests and thousands of Faithful of Malankara who were
fortunate enough to study under this Ugra Sanyasi-Arch Dayroyo-Monk
(this highly appropriate word used by His Beatitude Aboon Mor
Baselios Thomas I, Catholicos).

GENEVA:
Christian and Muslim leaders and scholars meeting at
the Ecumenical Centre in Geneva, site of the World Council of
Churches (WCC) central offices today issued a joint statement of
condemnation for the criminal attack on the Church of Our Lady of
Najat (Sayidat al-Nejat) in Baghdad this past Sunday, 31 October.
Fifty-eight people were killed
after gunman seized hostages in the churches and government security
services later stormed the church to end the siege. The group is
participating in a 4-day international consultation on “Transforming
Communities: Christians and Muslims Building a Common Future.” In
the statement the group expressed “condemnation of all acts of
violence that target places of worship and other sacred places,
defile them, or threaten the safety and security of worshippers.”
The group called on “the United Nations and its Security Council and
all groups that call for just peace, and especially Iraqi officials,
to intervene for the purpose of putting an end to all terrorist
attacks aimed at degrading the Iraqi people, irrespective of their
religious affiliation, and defiling Christian and Islamic sacred
places.”

'International Consultation on Christian - Muslim
Dialogue' opens in Geneva under the auspices of WCC His Eminence Mor Gregorios
Youhanna Ibrahim, Archbishop of Aleppo moderated the opening session
GENEVA: A four - day
'International Consultation on Christian - Muslim Dialogue' opened
in Geneva on Nov 2nd. The “Transforming Communities” consultation
has been organized under the leadership of the Consortium of A
Common Word, the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute of Jordan, the World
Islamic Call Society based in Libya and the World Council of
Churches (WCC). The dialogue is taking place at the Ecumenical
Centre in Geneva, site of the WCC central offices. Delegates to the
conference and diplomats invited to the opening session were joined
by representatives of Christian world communions who are meeting in
Geneva this week. Church bodies and organizations represented on
Monday included the Roman Catholic, Orthodox, Anglican, Protestant,
Evangelical and Pentecostal traditions.
At the start of the proceedings, a
welcome was offered by the Rev. Dr Olav Fykse Tveit, general
secretary of the WCC. He commented on the varying situations of the
many societies from which participants have come. Another welcoming
statement was read by Dr Ibrahim Ali Rabu, the World Islamic Call
Society's director of conferences and institutions. He encouraged
participants in the dialogue to express their concerns clearly and
frankly: “Make sure that we understand each other.”
Prince Ghazi bin Muhammad bin Talal of Jordan was one of two keynote
speakers on the theme “Transforming Communities: Christians and
Muslims Building a Common Future.” The prince serves as personal
envoy and special advisor to King Abdullah II of Jordan and as
chairperson of the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought.
The second keynote address was given by the Right Rev. Dr Anders
Wejryd, archbishop of Uppsala in the Church of Sweden. He affirmed
the two great commandments of love as common teachings of the
religions descended from Abraham, although he suggested that people
of different cultures could also find inspiration in the Universal
Declaration of Human Rights, “a grand achievement and a piece of
good theology.”
Greetings also were offered to the consultation members by leaders
of the Protestant and Muslim communities in Switzerland. Sheikh
Yousef Ibram, imam of the Geneva mosque, and the Rev. Dr Thomas Wipf,
president of the Federation of Swiss Protestant Churches as well as
of the Swiss Council of Religions, welcomed participants and briefly
described the current state of Muslim-Christian relations across
Switzerland.
The opening sessions were moderated by His Eminence Mor Gregorios
Youhanna Ibrahim, Archbishop of Aleppo & Environs in the Syrian
Orthodox Church.

Centre in Malabar, on October 31, Sunday, when Metropolitan Mor
Philoxenos Zacharias hoisted the flag. Earlier in the morning, Mor
Philoxenos celebrated Holy Qurbono. Mor Philoxenos later inaugurated
the Ecumenical Kalotsavam and Free Eye Check up camp at the

Justice for Dalits held at New Delhi
NEW DELHI:
Naming casteism as "sin, apostasy and rebellion against God",
churches in India have committed themselves to serve as "zero
tolerance zones" for caste-based discrimination. They also called
for Lent 2011 to be "a time of purging caste" from Christian
communities.
Representatives of 31 churches grouped in the National Council of
Churches in India (NCCI) made those commitments at an ecumenical
conference held in New Delhi on 22-24 October. The event was
convened by the NCCI and the World Council of Churches (WCC).
"The moment of truth has come", said the NCCI president Bishop Dr
Taranath Sagar, speaking at the opening of the conference. He called
on churches to get involved, in all sincerity and faithfulness, with
the liberation of Dalits as part of the mission of God.
Speaking at the conference, Bishop Dr. Mor Coorilos Geevarghese,
moderator of the WCC's Commission on World Mission and Evangelism,
called for the "Dalitization of the Indian churches". "Churches have
to be inclusive, and any discrimination in any form will not make it
the body of Christ", Coorilos said.

problems in today's world, said Mar Chrisostom. Archbishop of
Thriuvala, Dr. Thomas Mar Coorilos presided over. Raju Abraham MLA,

programs.

Vote of Thanks.
Various entertainment programs were held during the day. The
Ganamela led by Rimi Tomy and mimics show by the Mimics team led by
Kalabhavan Jinto enthralled the audience. The other programs
included Shinkari Melam by Shaiju and party, and a variety of
programs by members. Raffle draws were conducted during the program
by the Raffle convener Koshy Kuruvilla.

Convenor and Joint Convenor respectively for the Mega Event.
Food stalls arranged by Varghese T Chacko, Giby Sushil and Vanitha

His Holiness the Patriarch was accorded a rousing reception at the
Qamishli Airport by HG Mor Osthatheos Matta Roham - Metropolitan of
Euphrates & Jazeera, HG Mor Dionysius Behnam Jajawi, Gen. Mazy Najib
Salloum - Governor of Hassakah province, government officers,
eminent priests from the diocese, representatives of the different
councils, Scouts and large crowd of faithful. From the airport, the
entourage was taken to the Monastery of Virgin Mary in Hassakah.
Later on His Holiness presided over a public meeting and inaugurated
four different projects that were built and completed by the Diocese
of Euphrates & Jazeera under the leadership of HG Mor Osthatheos in
association with the different councils of the diocese. On the 29th,
His Holiness inaugurated the Patriarch Ignatius Zakka I Iwas Centre,
a socio-cultural centre, built adjacent to the St. George Cathedral
and the headquarters of the Diocese. This Centre is proposed to be a
centre for civilization and cultural development. It has been built
as a three storied building. The ground floor comprises a large
lounge area, and the first and second floors consists of offices for
different religious commissions of the Church, six classrooms to
teach the languages and a digital library.
On 30th, His Holiness laid the foundation for the proposed school
building adjacent to the Church of Virgin Mary in the neighbourhood
of Nazareth. The President of Centre for religious education thanked
His Holiness on behalf of the inhabitants of Nazareth and wished a
successful completion of the school building project.
On 31st, His Holiness consecrated the newly built Morth Shmooni
Church at Maaliki. His Holiness, who arrived at the entrance of the
town was carried over their shoulders by the faithful to their
church. His Holiness who celebrated the Divine liturgy and
consecrated the new church building, congratulated the faithful of
Maaliki for having built a beautiful place of worship.
On the same day evening, His Holiness and his entourage were taken
in a procession to Qamishli. The occasion was the inauguration of
Liberty High School built and donated by the senior & retired
Metropolitan HG Mor Dionysius Behnam Jajawi. The faithful lined up
the roads leading to the venue to welcome His Holiness.
On 1st morning, His Holiness and the entourage were given a warm
farewell at the Qamishli airport on their return to the Patriarchal
Headquarters.

Soonoro Cathedral at Homs on October 27, Wednesday. Metropolitan of
Curia, Mor Dionysius Yuhanon Kawaq accompanied Bishop Michael to
Homs from the Patriarchate. Archbishop and Patriarchal Vicar of Homs
and Hawa, Mor Silwanos Petrus Issa Al-Nemeh welcomed Bishop Michael at the
Bishop's House.

Congregation in the blessed name of St. Mary for the
Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church at Shepparton, Australia

A new congregation in the name St. Mary's Jacobite Syrian Orthodox
Congregation has been formed in Shepparton Australia. This will be
the 9th Congregation of the Jacobite Syrian Orthodox Church in
Australia. On Oct 2nd, H. Qurbono was offered by the Vicar, Rev. Fr.
Boby Thomas followed by Sermon, Offerings and Benediction.
H. Qurbono will be celebrated on every first Saturday at 10.00 a.m.

JAIPUR:
108th Dukhrono of St. Gregorios Thirumeni of Malankara and
Gospel Convention started on October 31, Sunday, when Vicar, Fr. C
George Elluvila hoisted the flag. Feast will be held at Mor
Gregorios JSO Church, Jaipur from Nov 4th to 7th. HG Mor Aphrem Mathews, Metropolitan of High
Range & Perumbavoor regions of Ankamaly Diocese will be the chief
celebrant. The vicar, Rev. Fr. C George Elluvila will assist His
Grace.
Rev. Fr. Paulson Kuriakose and Rev. Fr. Isaac Mathew will
lead the Gospel Convention. A Holy Tri-Mass will be celebrated on
Nov 7th.

Orthodox Church' by Patriarchal vicar of Ireland ,HG Mor Dioscorus
Kuriakose Metropolitan through HG's apostolic bull dated 14th
October 2010. The Apostolic bull was read by vicar Fr. Babu Alias on
30th of October during Holy Qurbono in the presence of many faithful
.In his Bull, the metropolitan specially mentioned about the unity
of this church members in all activities even though it is a small
congregation. HG congratulated each and every member of the church
for the effort they took to make the last two Family conferences a
great success .This church is functioning under the unique
leadership and guidance of Vicar, Fr. Babu Alias who is spending
most of his valuable time for the activities of this church.

Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim gave a lecture at the Oxford University
OXFORD UNIVERSITY:
H. E Mor Gregorios Youhanna Ibrahim, Archbishop of Aleppo & environs
gave a lecture at the Oxford University as per the invitation of the
Oxford Student's Union on Oct 29th. The subject of the lecture was '
Cultures and co-existence in Syria'. His eminence began his lecture
by briefly outlining the relationship between Oxford and Aleppo in
the fifth and sixteenth centuries. He went on to explain how
different cultures started living together in Syria, especially the
Christians and Muslims after the Arab conquest. He also described
how different communities are living under one umbrella in Syria
today citing examples. The lecture which lasted about 50 minutes was
followed by a Question and answer session.
