The first
annual Suryoyo Youth Day under the theme of UNITY held on May
15th at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus
TORONTO: The first annual
Suryoyo Youth Day under the theme of UNITY saw its first light on
May 15th at the University of Toronto, Mississauga Campus.
Ontario’s four Syriac Orthodox churches (St. Barsaumo - Toronto, St.
Behnam - Mississauga, St. John's - Burlington, and St. Mark's -
Hamilton) united to celebrate a day full of spiritual and fun
activities. The atmosphere of the event was glamorous and the
participants are eager for more next year!
The day started with registration and ice breakers. Four different
colour bands were given away to put the 140 youth attended into
groups. A morning prayer followed the registration session led by
Deyroyo Youhanna Issak and Deyroyo Estphanos Essa. Later a workshop
presented by Mr. Thamer to engage the youth to learn and interact
about the topic of little faith in our lives and what the bible has
to say about it. The workshop was very interactive and a lot of
youth had many questions to ask. The most important message that was
taken from the workshop is that even with little faith, we can build
a great relationship with God and make it fruitful. Just like the
mustard seed which is very small in size, when planted would grow to
more than 2 meters.
After that it was the time for the participant to go down to the gym
and stretch their muscles. Tug o' war and dodge ball were the games
that sent everyone home with sore shoulders / arms. The energy spent
in the gym needed some protein and carbs to gain some liveliness to
be able to finish off the day. A delicious BBQ was served by the
hired catering company and everyone enjoyed their lunch.
Heading back to the lecture room, it was time to take on some
spiritual energy. Deyroyo Youhanna Issak presented a lecture about
the Eucharist and explained the importance and significance of the
transformation of wine and bread in Sunday’s ceremony into blood and
flesh. The lecture got the crowd very interested and there were a
lot of questions by the audience following the lecture. Deyroyo
Estphanos Essa built up on the idea of how us Christians are saved
with Christ’s blood on the cross. He depicted the sacrifice Jesus
took upon himself to save us, with an analogy of the orphan sheep
that was adopted by the mother sheep. The mother sheep’s blood was
put on the orphan sheep and then became the adopted one, once the
mother sheep smelled the blood. So too is the blood of Jesus Christ
who adopted us and then we became the children of God.
The beautiful day was then concluded with an evening
prayer led by the two respectful Fathers and the youth got to engage
in praising the Lord with hymns in the English and Syriac Languages.

...."Metran Kakshi" built upon and
living on lies....
"Devalokam Society" officially claimed in their news service
that 3 lakh internet viewers watched their program held at
Kottayam recently live. They used "Freedocast", which is a free
streaming service and even a child knows above said numbers are
not supported by them. Also they don't offer the bandwidth to
support the claimed numbers. We got the official confirmation
from "freedocast" that, at any cost they never support more than
1000 viewers at a time. Again they proved they are big blown
balloon. The day this balloon is going to blast is not too far
away.
Claim of "Metran Kakshi" official news service :

We would like to add a bonus of some 1000 users as it was a
festival for them.
As usual "Devalokam" fanatics claimed thousands of times the
real situation. Same happened last year when they conducted "Maha
Sammelanam" in Kottayam town too. Thank God, this time they did
not claim 25 lakh viewer ship for the program through their "freedocast
service". We assume remaining 22 lakh faithful of "Metran kakshi"
were watching the program live at Elia Cathedral. Funny part is
that "Metran Kakshi" ordered 7500 Biriyani for the faithful
coming to participate in ordination & 1500 Biriyani was balance
after the ceremony. Did "Feeding the multitude" "miracle of the
five loaves and two fish" happened again at Devalokam???? Even the famous
Kottayam Thirunakkara ground can't accommodate more than 6000
people at a time, so we wonder how they accommodated this much
of crowd at Elia cathedral premises.
This is how IOC leaders always makes fool of their ignorant
people.... Hope this group of excommunicated will open their
eyes one day to see the facts....

H.H Aram
I, Catholicos of Armenia meets His Holiness at Patriarchal Monastery

and held discussions. The meeting was held as an aftermath of the
discussions between Moran Mor Ignatius Zakka-I with H.H. Pope
Shenouda-III, head of the Coptic Church a few days before at the
Coptic Orthodox Patriarchate in Cairo, Egypt.
The two Leaders first held a closed session and then Metropolitan
Mor Osthatheos George Saliba, the Archbishop of Mount Lebanon & the
Secretary of the Holy Episcopal Synod, and Bishop Nareg Alemezian
who is in charge of the Ecumenical affairs of the Armenian Orthodox
Church, joined. Their eminences Mor Clemis Daniel (Patriarchal

with their sister Church, the Coptic Orthodox Church, which had a
serious difference of opinion with the Union of Middle Eastern
Council of Churches following a decision taken by the later’s
Executive Committee in its last meeting. The two holy fathers
reiterated that under any circumstances the three ancient Churches
of Oriental Orthodoxy - the Armenian Orthodox Church, Coptic
Orthodox Church and the Syriac Orthodox Church - will stand united
and will jointly repel any action against the Coptic Orthodox
Church. The Church fathers also stressed the need to strengthen the
Oriental Orthodox family in the Middle East.
His Holiness Catholicos Aram I during the meeting, also briefed the
Holy Father about his recent visit to India and about the meeting
with the Metropolitan representatives of the Syriac Orthodox Church
of India.

The
disputes in Cheengeri Church, Malabar settled down This will be a
landmark in the history of Church cases in Malankara
CHEENGERI,
MEENANGADI: The disputes in St. Mary's JSO Church, Cheengeri settled
down. According to the agreement signed by Jacobite Church and the
Indian Orthodox Church representatives, the old church belongs to
the Jacobite Syrian Church. Jacobite Church will get 0.5264 Hectare
of the total property. Methran Faction will get 0.1618 Hectare of
the land. The cemetery will be used commonly by both churches. Out
of the three shrines under the church, one belong to Methran faction
and rest to Jacobite Syrian Church. This was the first church in
Malankara closed down followed by the tension created the Methran
Kakshi in 1970's. According to the sources from Cheengeri, the
settlement will be a landmark in the church case, as the decision
was taken by the General Body Meeting of both churches, not the
court. This proves that the church and its property ultimately
belong to the parishnors. Jacobite Syrian Church and Methran Faction
has their own churches near to the old church. The Methran Faction
is just one third of the total parishoners here. The disputes in
other churches in Malankara should be settled down in the democratic
way, as it happened in Cheengeri.
